The ultimate guide to 1st July

The ultimate guide to 1st July

Are you one of the hundreds of students who are set to collect your keys at the Selly Oak office on 1st July?

Getting your new place is incredibly exciting and it’s one of the most exciting days for everyone here, too. There’s a free BBQ and the chance to win FREE VIP tickets to Vodbull. Plus, exclusive offers from local companies that you can use throughout the year.

As you can imagine, the office can get pretty busy. So to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible, here’s a checklist of things that will make it easier for you to get your keys.

  1. Check your allocated timeslot to collect keys – it can get rather busy in our office on move in day! Check the time slots in our moving in guide
  2. Bring your passport, national ID card or photo card driving licence with you so we can check we’re giving out the right keys to the right tenants
  3. Check you (and your housemates) have returned all required documents

Have you supplied all of your documents?

There’s still time left for you to get all of your documents to us. It will help you avoid any problems when you arrive to collect your keys and it’ll make the day much more fun!

Here’s a quick list of all the paperwork we should have received from each tenant in your group:

  • Signed tenancy agreement
  • Retainer
  • Application form
  • 2 x ID to comply with the Immigration Act (eg passport and driving license/VISA)
  • Suitable guarantor (supplying a complete guarantor form) or rent payment upfront
  • Student ID card (if applicable)
  • Authorised direct debit for rent payments (via GoCardless)

If we don’t have all of your (and your housemates) documents you won’t be able to collect your keys.

Remember… even if you don’t have everything returned and we can’t hand your keys to you, you’ll still need to pay rent from the start date of your tenancy. If you’re holding on to your paperwork, please send it to us via email to ops@purplefrogproperty.com. We can check it before you arrive, to prevent any problems on moving in day!

Have you authorised your Direct Debit for rent payments?

If you’ve not done it yet there’s no need to panic – there is still time. But you will need to make your first rent instalment to us manually. You can pay your first rent payment now via a debit or credit card on our online payment page.

You’ll still need to make sure your direct debit is set-up and authorised with GoCardless using the email link that we sent you a little while ago. We’ll then be able to set a plan up for your next instalment.

Please let us know if you can’t find the link (and it’s not in your junk!).

You can set up your Direct Debit when you come to the office… but then you’ll have to suffer the silent rage of everyone behind you in the queue. Keep the day rage-free and set up your Direct Debit today.

There’s a page on the website with more info on moving in. It’s full of essential information that will help you get ready for 1st July.

If you’re still thinking ‘yeah, but what about…’ and need to speak to someone, then there’s a friendly voice at your local office.

Finally, we hope moving in isn’t too stressful and you have a fabulous year in your new home!
