Right To Rent – Update

Right To Rent – Update

The government have recently announced the roll out of the Right to Rent requirements across the UK; as of 1 February 2016, anyone who lets a private property in England will need to see and make a copy of evidence that any new adult tenant has the right to rent in the UK (for example a passport or a biometric residence permit).

Our Birmingham office was included in the trial area for the last year so we already have systems in place to handle the new requirements. On behalf of our clients, Purple Frog will take on the responsibility of making these checks on tenants when they sign tenancy agreements with us. Our let only clients will need to take responsibility for the tenants once the tenancy agreement starts so if any tenants have Visas which expire during their tenancies our let only clients will need to check that the tenants have received renewed Visas at the relevant time. We will do this automatically for our managed clients as part of our service.

For more information about the new regulations please follow this link. Please feel free to call our Operations Centre on 0121 227 4188 if you’d like to discuss anything to do with these new regulations.
