Birmingham City Council – Additional Licencing Consultation Event (24th August)

Birmingham City Council are currently consulting on whether or not to bring in additional licencing in the city.

“If an additional licensing designation is approved, the landlord of every House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) in the city would be required to obtain a licence from the Council.”

You can view the consultation information here.

“The consultation on this proposal starts on Monday 4th July 2022 will run for 10 weeks, closing at 9am on Tuesday 13th September 2022.”

BCC have just announced that there will be two virtual events which will “give an opportunity to hear details of the proposed additional licensing scheme, to ask questions, and to give comment”

“The first session will be held between 1.30pm and 3pm and the second between 6pm and 7.30pm.  The events are being facilitated by the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA) and a space on one of the sessions can be booked by visiting their website (details below).

To attend the 1.30pm session on Wednesday 24th August please visit https://www.nrla.org.uk/events/meetings/5106.

To attend the 6pm session on Wednesday 24th August please visit https://www.nrla.org.uk/events/meetings/5107

You do not need to be a member of the NRLA to attend, however you will need to sign up for a free guest membership to attend the session.”

We recently wrote an article about the increase in HMO application fees in Birmingham.

It will be important for all members of the community to submit responses to the consultation to make sure their voices are heard. We will publish our response shortly.
