Wanted: student bloggers

You could be one of Purple Frog’s student bloggers

Purple Frog Marketing team needs you!

We are looking for students with excellent writing skills to  contribute to our student blog.

As one of our bloggers, you will be writing about everyday things that interest students, be sharing your wit and wisdom. And getting paid.

You will write light, friendly, and informative blog posts about all things related to studying, living off-campus and life in the three cities.

In return, we promise you three things:

  • Glory! You’ll have something eye-catching to add to your CV
  • Fame! All blogs are shared with our +7k social followers
  • Fortune! You’ll be paid for every article we publish

There is also loads of scope for getting your creative ideas for articles published!

We are looking for people who are chatty, passionate, and who can write for us throughout the academic year (and maybe beyond).

How to apply

We’re looking for bloggers for the 19-20 academic year. If you’re interested, please email James the marketing guy on james.mason@purplefrogproperty.com.

Please make sure you include your name and which university you go to.

You don’t need to send a CV. Instead, please also let me know, in no more than 350 words, the answer to one of these questions:

  1. Part time job ideas for fulltime students are…
  2. The best way to make friends with my new housemates…
  3. Things I did to help me settle in my new city…
  4. How to stay green while living in my student accommodation?

Please send your application no later than 11th October 2019.

Answers to some questions you might have

Who decides on subjects to write about?

It’s a mixture. As one of the bloggers you’ll come up with your own ideas for articles. I’ll also have some ideas too, which I’ll pitch to the blogging team. All articles will need to be agreed with me, before you write them.

How long are articles?

Each blog post needs to be between 500-650 words long. If you can source images too that’s good, but not essential.

What sort of articles are you looking for?

It’s mainly going to be lifestyle articles: things that other students will enjoy reading and find useful. Ways to enjoy living off campus, things that freshers will need to know when looking for accommodation. Going out/staying in on a budget, things to see and do. Common student problems sorted. Clever studying ideas. Seasonal posts: holidays, exams. Where to get free stuff.

Obviously, we’re a letting agent not the New York Times, so hard-hitting reportage on corruption in the students’ union would be better suited to the traditional media outlets.

Think fun and informative.

How many articles will I get published?

There will be four bloggers in total, so approximately one a month, with the summer off.

Once the blogging team is finalised, we’ll work out a rota so everyone knows when they’ll be contributing. My aim is to have at least one new article published every week.

Are there deadlines?

Yes, but they’re not like your essay deadlines – those come first! We’ll agree blog deadlines beforehand and they will be easy to fit around your normal life.

When do I get paid?

Once you’re a contributor, you’ll get paid after each of your articles appears on the blog – normally the middle of the month. There is a standard fee, based on the word count.

Remember, if you’re interested email me no later than 11th September and I’ll announce the new team on 18th October 2019.
