What should I do about my bills?

What should I do about my bills?

Answer: nothing

Well, not quite nothing.

When a tenant moves into their property, they’ll often ask us about bills, something that can be quite confusing, especially for those moving into a shared house for the first time. Most of our tenants choose to have our bills inclusive package but for those that don’t, paying bills can cause a few problems.

What are the problems?

  1. Previous tenants sometimes forget to submit a meter reading at the end of their tenancy or do not pay the last bill, which can cause confusion for the new tenants.
  2. Bills vary in format from different energy suppliers, therefore can be difficult to understand.
  3. Most energy suppliers only allow one person’s name on the bill and that person is responsible for paying the bills on time. If the other tenants in the house miss payments or pay late, then it can lead to repercussions as the payment is expected regardless.

To avoid these problems moving forward and to make tenants lives easier when it comes to bills, Glide will be providing energy to all our managed properties, so when tenants move in their bills are already sorted.

Who are Glide?

Glide are a specialist student energy provider who combine all household bills into one payment split evenly between housemates, meaning each tenant is only responsible for their share of the bills. It also helps us at Purple Frog direct any billing queries that we receive to our account manager. Purple Frog have worked with Glide for several years which is why we believe this will allow us to provide better support to our tenants.

Don’t worry, if you don’t want to stay with Glide you are free to transfer to a new supplier free of charge, you’ll only have to pay for the energy you have used.
