Lots of letters?
When you move in to a new property there will often be a large pile of old post left behind from previous tenants. Often this is because the house might have been empty for a little bit when the previous tenants moved out butmainly this is down to tenants forgetting to change their postal addresses. The best way to deal with this is:
1) Not to open it (it's illegal to open post not addressed to you)
2) Put a big line through the addressor
3) Write on the front of the envelope "No longer at address"
4) Pop in back in the post box
I'm getting
bills that aren't mine...
Sometimes these old letters will be addressed 'To the occupier',
feel free to open these and have a look to see if it's relevant.
Often they may be utility bills which again, are probably from
previous tenants. If you have all bills included in your rent, you
can ignore these. If you're looking after bills yourself, all you
need to do is give the company a call and advise them of the date
you moved in and they will send out new bills in your names.
If you get something you know is clearly for the previous tenants,
for example a parcel or a delivery of some kind, please get in touch
with us and we can see about getting this back to the previous
tenants.
If you've got any other questions about any post you may have
received, please email
post@purplefrogproperty.com and we'll be able to help you
further.
